Project Unit

Taking the form of a self-directed project, this unit will apply the knowledge and skills acquired over the preceding three units in the SDA framework to applying service design tools and methods including user-research and co-design within the learner’s workplace or within an organisation or group that the learner is familiar with. Learners will also further develop skills in communicating service design outcomes using a range of media.

On successful completion of this Unit you will be able to:

1.Demonstrate an ability to design, plan and deliver a service design project.

2.Describe and explain how various user research and service design tools are selected and used in the project.

3.Communicate and reflect on the project process and outcomes.

Taking the form of a self-directed project, this unit can be workplace or community based and will apply the understanding and skills acquired in the other Service Design units to co-designing and prototyping an innovation within your workplace or within an organisation or group that you are familiar with. You will also further develop skills in communicating service design outcomes using a range of media.

As with other units in the Service Design framework, this places an emphasis on practical engagement with the tools and methods introduced, exploring their use in current practice, and gaining a well grounded understanding that connects with the learner’s working context through reflective practice. You will also be supported and encouraged to share your insights and reflections with fellow learners in a collaborative way.
